KidShip’s curriculum includes all the nuts and bolts of sailing. Through on-land and on-water instruction, kids will learn and understand sailing and nautical theory and terminology. KidShip instructors utilize creative teaching techniques so the kids don’t even realize how much they’re learning!
KidShip classes are fun and relaxed, providing the kids with a risk-free and noncompetitive environment. Each week, kids participate in activities and games that include ‘shark’ overboard drills, races, picnic day trips, and the grand finale – ice cream at City Dock!

Below you will find some helpful hints to prepare for a week of sailing fun for your KidShipper...
1. Every child attending Kidship must be signed in and signed out by a parent or other adult every day. If the accompanying adult is other than a parent or guardian of the child, he or she must have a note of authorization from the parent.
2. KidShippers wear PFD’s (life jackets) at all times on or around the water. KidShip will provide life jackets, but if your child has his/her own that is USCG approved, comfortable and fits properly, please bring it.
3. Shoes must be worn at all times on or around the water, so please wear shoes that can get wet. Non-skid soles, aqua-socks and “Tevas” are great!
4. KidShip sails in rainy weather (unless notified), so be prepared with windbreakers, rain coats, etc. if the weather looks or calls for inclement conditions.
5. Bathing suits should be worn and pack an extra set of dry clothes if the weather is cool.
6. Bring beach towels for lunch breaks (beach and pool activities).
7. Sun block, hats, sunglasses with straps and lip balm are important for sailors with the extra effect of sun, wind and glare on the water.
