1. New Expanded Fleet
Kidship is happy to announce the addition of a new class of boat for the intermediate level students, the Flying Junior or “FJ”. This 14-foot boat is popular among high school and college teams that prize both its competitive nature as well as its simplicity. The FJs are fast, responsive to sail trim adjustments, and are sensitive to weight distribution; traits that help sailors build more advanced skills.
2. Variety of Vessels
Our fleet of Americans, FJs, Topazes, Lasers, and Rainbows gives our students the most varied sailing experience of any young sailors on the Bay.
3. Improved Course Progression
By increasing our fleet to include the FJs, we have the perfect boat for sailors to move from being novice sailors to experts. With the expansion of our Intermediate Sailing camp which is being offered every week this camp season, our sailors have ample opportunity to move up the ‘ranks’ from the Essentials to Advanced and their logbook will help them know exactly when they have achieved the skills to do so.
Sailors will receive a logbook and when they master a skill, we will certify it in their log. They will be able to keep track of their accomplishments and you can follow their progress, too.
5. Expanded Curriculum
We want kids to love not only sailing but also everything around it including the unparalleled setting of the Chesapeake Bay. We have added lessons every week on topics from the animals in the Bay to wayfinding and navigation, so each week your sailor will be engaged in new activities. While learning new things, the students will refine and master their sailing skills all while traveling to different destinations.
6. Student/Instructor Ratio
When starting out with beginner sailors, we want to make sure they have all the hands-on instruction they need, which is why we offer the best instructor to student ratio around. Our beginner courses generally offer a 3:1 ratio.
7. Confidence Building
Your child will have the chance to develop confidence, independence, and leadership while learning new and fun skills. They will build confidence as a team member while operating the boat and as leaders when they are skippering it. As they successfully complete these tasks with the guidance of our instructors, their confidence grows and their faces beam.
8. The Beach
Not only does Kidship teach sailing skills on the water, campers are given time each day to play on Annapolis Sailing School’s private beach, one of the only natural beaches in Annapolis.
9. Lower Prices
To help campers go from novices to great sailors, our full-day classes are priced almost $50 lower this season, making it easier for you to give your child a sailing experience that’s better than ever for less money.
10. Multi-Week Discount
Not only have most of the camp prices gone down, but to encourage the progression and growth of our sailors we are offering 25% off your second or third weeks in 2017. (This offer is valid when weeks are booked together and cannot be combined with any other offers. Call to book multi-weeks.)
